New York Interior Designer Scott Sanders designed this bright and airy living room for the 2011 Stately Homes by the Sea Showhouse in Rumson, NJ. The rich yellow that Sanders chose for the walls reflects not only the brilliant summer sunshine, but also Sanders’ unerring eye for color. Regal, yet relaxing, this room invites us in for a refreshing icy drink after a sun-soaked day at the beach.
Turquoise chairs and pillows, along with white sofa and curtains, help keep the warm wall color from becoming too overwhelming. The wave-like pattern and pale blue colors of the custom design Ikat rug draws inspiration from the nearby Atlantic ocean.
Living room designs should focus not only on comfort and style, but functionality. Sanders took advantage of this room’s size to create several spaces that could be used in different ways – reading, relaxing or studying can all be done in the living room.
It’s no surprise that this fresh and airy room recently graced the cover of NY Spaces Magazine’s September issue. Don’t forget to visit Scott Sanders LLC to share your thoughts on this room and to discover more immaculate interior designs!
