New York interior designer Susan Hughes created Modify Interiors as a way to make fresh, affordable interior designs accessible to all. Susan believes that good design comes in all shapes and sizes and one shouldn’t have to sacrifice style because of budget. Whether to decorate, update, or stage a space, Susan and her company can help create an interior that “reflects your style and the way you live.”
Recognized for her keen sense of style, attention to detail, and affordability of her services, Susan has turned her lifelong passion for interior design into a career, creating attractive residential and commercial spaces in modern and contemporary styles.
Recently, she completely renovated a one bedroom co-op in Chelsea, NYC. Here is a sampling of her redesign:
Ambient, incandescent warmth is created with a hanging lantern and wall sconces, while the flat screen television is a luxury addition and set for entertaining.
Prior to renovation, the client had no designated area for dining, but now has a proper dining space to comfortably seat four for dinner.
Before the renovation, the kitchen was not correctly designed for the small space. Now, it has become a full- functioning kitchen with an abundance of storage, as well as an island.
The tub was removed and replaced with a large frameless shower, further opening a small space and a large vanity. More storage space was provided with a built-in cabinet over the toilet, opposite the vanity.
The bathroom’s accent wall was created with a marble mosaic to add interest.
Before, there was no master closet in the bedroom. Now, a master closet has been built and fitted with custom built-ins to further maximize the storage capacity.
The bedroom is a well-balanced fusion of geometric forms with a splash of gray amidst earthly tones.
