Focal Points – Create a Statement in Your Home

If you’re looking to make a statement in your room, a focal point does just that and so much more.  A room or even a hall needs a focal point to anchor it, and feature walls are a great way to do that. Here are some of favorite tricks for creating a feature wall and focal points in a room. Enjoy!

Focal Point Design

Creating an interesting group of furniture and objects that make a stylish vignette will make the group a focal point in the room. Bold colors and patterns are not always needed to draw the eye.

Wall Art Design

A wall hung with art will definitely become a feature wall and focal point in the room. Hang art in a gallery style collage or along picture shelves for a more organized look.

Plate Wall Decor

To draw the eye to this small nook of a wall, plates are arranged in a collage. Hanging plates on the wall is a traditional interior design element that goes back centuries.

Dark Wall Focal Point

A single dark wall in a room becomes a focal point. Dark colors, like navy, plum or black, can recede in the space, making the room feel larger.

Suzani Quilt Design

Use fabric, as in a quilt or suzani, to create a focal point on the wall. This is a great idea for above the bed, which should be the focal point of any bedroom design.

Architectural Wall Design

Architectural details, like molding, can create a feature wall if used only on one wall in the room. The architectural grid on the wall behind the bed is a gorgeous focal point.

Wallpaper Bedroom Design

Wallpaper is a big design trend right now. Using wallpaper on a single wall, like behind the bed, creates a feature wall with tons of pattern and/or color. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6  | 7  | 8
