With July 4th just around the corner and the long summer stretching out beyond, opportunities abound for entertaining outside. We’re thinking about how to make our outdoor kitchens, living rooms and dining rooms more special and inviting for guests and family too. From dream spaces to easy to do do patio corners, here we’ve included ideas to inspire your next design project with all sorts of outdoor rooms for entertaining

Outdoor Entertaining

Let’s get started with a dream space for entertaining. This one has a panoramic ocean view. Pristine white and watery blue create a cool and casual spot for hanging out with friends and family.

Outdoor Entertaining

Here’s a handsome terrace just right for the modern bachelor to host dinner at sunset by the sea. Sleek furnishings like this would also work well in a more inland environment.

Inspired Interiors by Wendi

South Florida interior designer Wendi S. Mannix, principal of Inspired Interiors by Wendi, uses a background in art history to enhance her work in contemporary residential design. As indicated by her firm’s name, inspiration is of utmost importance to Wendi’s work as she sets out to deliver original one of a kind interiors based on what inspires her clients.

We’re so pleased that Wendi decided to share the inspiration behind the rooms she added to her portfolio here on Design Shuffle. Take a look and see what inspired these spaces.

Contemporary Living RoomWendi says this light-filled open living room is inspired by by the sea and sand. It’s a beautiful space where color, texture and pattern merge to create a captivating contemporary living environment.

Contemporary Kitchen

The designer calls this contemporary kitchen “inspired by the white sand beaches of Florida’s Gulf Coast.” It’s all high-end appliances, fabulous finishes and touches of watery blue.

Mid-Century Modern Bedroom

Inspired by the glamorous world of Old Hollywood, the designer brings a Mid-Century modern aesthetic to this spacious master bedroom.

Tropical Living Room

Wendi shares the inspiration behind this chic family room design, saying it’s “inspired by the shadings of a sunset.” We think she’s captured tropical style in a most restrained and pleasing way.

Tuscan Eat-In Kitchen

With an irresistible Tuscan point of view, this colorful eat-in kitchen was inspired by THE yellow sunflowers, red poppies and green grass seen in the rolling hills of Tuscany. What a fabulous spot for Sunday brunch.

Contemporary Dining Room

Here’s a contemporary dining room Wendi says was inspired by life under the sea. All white and watery blue, this lovely tablescape is overseen by a watchful seahorse.

Contemporary Dining Room

Inspired by the juxtaposition of ancient and modern art, this dining room is transformed into a gallery of sorts–modern art and ancient sculpture blend to create a captivating setting for dinner by the water at sunset.

Thanks to Wendi for sharing some of her Inspired Interiors.

Color Inspiration: Pink Perfection

We’re seeing pink! Here. There. Everywhere we look. From the gorgeous cover of the June 2014 issue of Architectural Digest to blogs all around the online world of interior design and home decor. Bette Midler’s “Penthouse Paradise” is AD’s cover story, with a picture of her outdoor dining room all dressed up in deep pink. It’s a beauty and a great excuse (do we really need a reason to explore these beautiful hues?) to take a little tour of some of our favorite pink rooms and one fabulous front door. From bold and bright to the palest of pale pinks, take a look at these eight views of pink perfection. Enjoy!

Perfect Pink

With a bold nod to color visible from the street, can you imagine what might await the fortunate visitor who enters this intriguing home?

Pink Decor

Sleek and sophisticated in fuchsia and as brilliant as pink can be, a chic and stylish daybed is the focal point in this open entryway.

Pink Decor

Isn’t this black and white kitchen captivating? Who expects a tiger on a subway tile wall or a huge splash of brilliant pink spilling from the room beyond? This is one “pink” space that will not be easily forgotten.

Pink Decor

Pink knows no style boundaries. From sleek and contemporary pink perfection above, it’s time to turn to pink in a more traditional setting with a twist. Literally a twist of wood you’ll notice. This dining room goes bold with pink on the walls and on velvet chairs.

Pink Decor

Pink and brown can be a charming color combination. And so it is here in a lovely eclectic living room. Vintage and pink–it doesn’t get any better than that.

Pink Decor

Even a pantry looks pretty in pink. Here a pale hue is perfect as a backdrop for an extensive plate collection. Who knew a pantry could look so good?

Pink Decor

Is there any pink palette more tranquil than the subtle combination of pink and soft beige or tan? Add a touch of glam with mirrored tables and you have pink perfection in a living room.

Pink Decor

Pink and Mid-Century furnishings merge to create an interesting look in this Manhattan bedroom. Perhaps pink is more versatile than some think?
