Remember the Battle of the Ugly Lights Contest we ran back in March of this year? And the ugly light with the most votes that won was “Christmas In A Tube“? Well, what you didn’t know was that Alison, our winner, had no idea her family was already planning a renovation in her home when she decided to enter the contest. Below Alison tells us all about how she put her $500 towards Quoizel Lighting to pristine use! Oh, and we think Tiffany lights are makin’ a comeback.
My dream finally came true…to redecorate my house! Man oh man, have I been dreaming of this day since, FOREVER! I seriously had no idea how this happened, but I’m so glad it did. Definitely much needed. What a process! With four different opinions coming from four different people, this was a fabulous way to get rid of the old, and create something new together. ALSO, with a little extra help from The Ugly Light Contest that I won (thanks for voting, friends!), our kitchen received two new lights all thanks to Designshuffle!
This process definitely made me bleed (from assembling all of the furniture/chairs together, hard work for two very confused girls), sweat (from the one and only, SOcal weather), and created tears of joy from the finished product. As our trash bins filled up, and our house emptied out, this created a very happy girl living with a very happy family.
Here are the Tiffany Lights that I won:) Super pretty and they really bring character to our kitchen. I was kind of skeptical about them at first because the wall color for our kitchen was still undecided, but I’m glad my family and I made this choice. Without these lights, our kitchen would seem dark and dull, but with these lights, it really brightens up the kitchen (yes, I know that’s what lights are supposed to do), but they really do! The Tiffany lights bring warmness to our kitchen and they are definitely fun to look at. They are a great addition to my ceilings and every time I look at them, I think of DesignShuffle!
These cabinets are really a blessing from the Man upstairs! We originally ordered the less expensive ones which were lighter in color, and not as coherent with our wall/granite color. But the company was out of stock the day they were going to install it!
My mom cooks like she is feeding 5,000. Her dream is to throw parties everyday and begs my sister and Ito invite people over. It’s so funny because I know she’s not lying…she needs a reality TV show, asap. Seriously, that is all she wants. The thing about our kitchen is that it is prettty small, but hey, she makes it work, less to clean! This kitchen is lined with cabinets to put all of her magical goodies and pans, pretty intense. Perfect place to play hide-n-go-seeek!
The final kitchen totally redone
Can you believe all this photography was done by Alison? Thank you Alison for visiting with us to share your end result. The Tiffany lights go all to well with that kitchen cabinetry. Astounding work! Thank you to Quoizel for providing such an awesome prize.
If you have a renovation project on its way, we’d like to hear all about it below. Begin uploading your final photos to Design Shuffle today.
