Delightful Design: Add a Touch of Spring

Does the arrival of spring always have you thinking about spring cleaning or more importantly, spring updates for you decor? Giving rooms a new look for spring doesn’t have to be a daunting task. Just have fun and do a few clever and creative touches that give a nod to the new season and a new look for spring. We hope one or more of the ideas below  will inspire a new spring project:

Spring Color

A bit of bright color at the front door or outside on the deck, is a quick and easy way to welcome spring. What could be easier that that.? Little time required, big impact achieved.

Spring Decor

How gorgeous is this massive bath? See how one blooming plant can virtually shout “spring is here.” This idea will work beautifully in a more modest sized bathroom. Please give it a try.

Blooming Branches

Blooming branches in a clear glass or pottery container filled with water is another clever idea with lots of visual impact. We think the larger the vase or bottle, the bigger the visual impact.

Tulips for Spring

What flower represents spring better than tulips? Make them yellow like the potted ones above and your kitchen table will make you smile.

Blooming Branches

Here’s another look for  branches that brings great results–a tall clear vase of branches with budding blooms and leaves just bursting forth.

Spring Inspired

For warm weather beauty trade that warm and cozy bedding for white ones and sheer or light weight white canopy panels. This simply exchange will take you happily through spring and summer.

Pink Chaise

Ready for a bigger update? Upholster a lovely chaise lounge in pink cotton. Canvas or linen would be beautiful

Spring Inspiration

Just a few spring green toss pillows and maybe a new potted plant or two can make all the difference when updating a living room for the new season. Just thinking about it inspires us to implement our plan to bring spring into our decor. How about you?

Room Decor Ideas: See What Color Can Do

When seasons change, our thoughts turn to clever ways to update interior spaces. One of the most effective room updates is the addition of color. Whether the clock is springing forward or falling back an hour, consider quick and easy colorful decor changes to your living environment. See what we mean below:

Blue Door

Expansive glass doors and windows can blur the lines between interior rooms and outdoor spaces. Add color such as the bright blue to the frames that surround that glass and you have something really special and unique.

 Pink Chest

Give old furniture a facelift with a brilliant coat of paint and bring any room to life.

Color and Pattern

Wall art, accessories or a lively patterned rug on the floor can redefine a room, adding color and rhythm that sings.

 Blue Kitchen Accents

Colorful chairs or barstools and decorative accents make this kitchen a favorite spot for cooking and conversation for family and friends.

Soft Blue Bedroom

Pale blue has become one of the go to colors for the bedroom. Paint the walls, put curtains or spread a rug on the floor–blue can bring serenity to a bedroom retreat.

Colorful Bathroom Accents

Add color to the bath with fluffy towels, fringed throws, wall art or decorative and functional items.

 Kids Room Color

Create a colorful background with a child’s favorite hue. But, don’t stop there. Add artwork and fabrics that complement or contrast to complete the picture.

Color in the Lounge

Brilliant color on furniture and fabrics can add visual excitement to any room in any style. We love this happy eclectic space.

Pantone Color of the Year 2016: Two for One

Pantone Color of the Year

As leave the old year behind and welcome the new year with all its possibilities, the design world eagerly embraces the Color of the Year 2016 from the color experts at Pantone. This year they picked not one, but two colors–a duo of pastels called Rose Quartz and Serenity.

Pantone Color of the Year

A warm pink and a cool blue that can stand alone or be used together as very amicable contrasting companions.

Pantone Color of the Year

We love the idea of using black with these pastels for a more sophisticated chic look in fashion (above) and home decor (following.)

Here Rose Quartz walls and woodwork are stunning with black accents.

Grays Work Well With Many Interior Styles

Recently gray has been called the new neutral. Before that, many considered it to be bland and perhaps boring. Now, gray color palettes have been embraced as chic and stylish and the perfect shade of gray is much sought after–perhaps obsessed over. And no wonder, there are enough shades of gray to boggle the mind and make design decisions even more difficult. What’s your favorite? Gray knows no style barriers. It’s perfect for any style from traditional to contemporary.

Shades of Gray

Pale gray is great in an open living space. It’s also an ideal background color that shows off lovely pattern and color–either soft or bold.

Shades of Gray

Layers of gray, from pale to charcoal, can add dimension and a comfortable, cozy look you’ll love, no matter your style aesthetic.

Gray Palette

Dark gray walls can be perfect for hanging wall art or create a gallery wall as you can see in this stylish dining room. Gray walls and white woodwork–what could be better than that?

Gray Palette

A vintage bedroom with gray walls and gray bedding with accents of orange and turquoise can be a charming combination. What do you think?

This gray bath is one of our favorites. We’re especially fond of the oversize botanical pattern on the bench cushion. Aren’t the colors perfect with the gray painted wood?

Of course gray is perfect in traditional rooms and furniture. Here, it’s a lovely background color for this de Gournay wallpaper. What a beauty!

An Infusion of Color & Pattern

Brilliant color and intriguing pattern can be used to infuse interior spaces with movement and life. From just a single pop to a wild splash that dazzles, color and pattern are as diverse as those who create home environments with very special personalities and deep roots.

Color and Pattern

Color and pattern are bold, beautiful and hand painted by the homeowner of this lovely home. Graphic elements downstairs give way to feature walls above–one lively green, the other done in wide stripes of blue and white.

Color and Pattern

Set against blue walls and white drapery panels, the bed is the focal point of vivid color and pattern. Rhythm, movement and a touch of seaside charm, those are elements that capture the eye.

Color Pattern

Vintage charm, colorful textiles and simple framed prints bring color and pattern to this eclectic living room.

Color and Pattern

Even a chic stylish closet can benefit from graphic black and white pattern and a few pops of orange.

Color and Pattern

A white kitchen with lots of pattern from backsplash tiles goes colorful with vibrant accessories. Not all color and pattern are bold and in your face beautiful. Some are elegant and restrained.

Color and Pattern

This lovely eat-in kitchen is all about intriguing stripes. Consider the fabulous effect of a brilliant table setting like the one belong.

Color and pattern can enhance any dinner table from casual glam to formal fab. Get this effect with a riot of pattern and color–more is always more.

There are so many fabrics with watercolor appeal available right now. From soft pastels to vibrant jewel tones, there’s a color palette for every room.

Watercolor artwork is stunning above the fireplace in this sunny room. Pale yellow walls are a beautiful contrast the the blues, pinks and greens. Wish more of the pink stripes on the chair (or is it a footstool?) were visible.

Wall murals or DIY paint designs are a great way to add a watercolor effect to the bedroom. This blue beauty is simply perfect.

A stunning watercolor upholstered headboard is unexpected, but works beautiful in this boy’s bedroom. Nothing timid about this use of color.
