Architect Gregory Thomas, AIA in conjunction with project manager Jim Venable of CG&S Design Build have created an oasis of sorts in Central City, Texas where they bring Central City living to its best! With green grass to surround it creating a natural landscape – this space facilitates a smooth connection with nature for its avid birdwatching and gardening homeowners. Expert craftsmanship is seen throughout the home through the use of Ipe which was chosen for its warmth and durability as a decorative trim for the interior and exterior wall surfaces. We get a sneak peak of this project which will be featured in the upcoming Outdoor Living Tour coming up on May 21st in Austin, Texas. The driving tour will feature 9 top notch outdoor living spaces in the area. Photography by Jonathan Jackson. Check out this beautiful home, originally built in 1963!
The front yard features native buffalo grass lawn. The courtyard is enclosed by an Ipe fence panels while the Ipe-clad carport is entered through a metal-clad sectional garage door for security. The entry arbor adds to the curb appeal and provides support for climbing plants.
The screened porch adjacent to their extensive gardens and fountain, was added to the back of the home.
Cypress ceilings contract with the stained concrete floor; they also add a light touch to the natural flavor of the home.
New screened porch added to extend the living and dining room outdoors for all four seasons. This space was designed the maximize the view of the garden and the birds in flight. Decorative sconces, copper gutter cove lighting, integrated sound system, and custom-designed end tables take the floor.
With the owners already seeding the garden, soon to come is a garden full of spring wildflowers as well as a small orchard!
