Living Room Design

An open and airy white contemporary living room deserves tables with a light touch like these. Oversized white vases and a barely there tall clear glass lamp are “just right” accessories.

Pale wood tables with sleek lines work well in tropical style rooms. Here, decorative accessories pick up the pale blues from the woven sofa, upholstered chairs and tiled fireplace.

Variety is the spice of life when it comes to living room tables. This elegant space shows how a lovely mix of tables can be used successfully. Variation in shapes, sizes and materials can add lots of visual interest.

Living Room Design

An entirely updated look can be easily created by flanking a long narrow coffee table with upholstered ottomans or footstools.

For a lighter look in the living room, consider going from solid wood tables to wrought iron and other metal designs.

This pretty living room shows off lots of tables. Each one is a different size and shape–no matched sets here.

From a tiny round side table to a large rectangular coffee table and more, this comfortable living room benefits visually and functionally from the addition of wood tables.

Several tables enhance this inviting space, but there’s no coffee table to be seen. Instead, blue and white ceramic garden stools sit sans accessories in front of the sofa, proving sometimes living room tables are not tables at all.

How to Style your Bar Cart

As avid Interior Design pinners, we couldn’t help but notice the abundance of bar carts on the web. Not only are they adorable pieces of furniture to fit into smaller spaces, they also house all of those amazing bottles of wine you just had stashed in the back of your cupboard, or what about those beautiful cups no one ever gets to see.  Whether it’s for a party, or a permanent fixture of your home, here are five easy ways of styling your bar cart.

1. A bar cart doesn’t need to include only beverages, style it with one of your favorite bowls and add lemons, or use that trinket box you just can’t seem to find a use for.

2. Bar carts with wheels are a must, they are great for positioning  just about anywhere during  a party. Feel free to add a flower vase, vintage style decanters , and festive straws.

A Buckinghamshire Country Retreat by Staffan Tollgard Design Group

This weeks getaway takes us to Buckinghamshire in south east England. This county of England is known for its open countryside, its stunning views of nature, and various historic houses still used as private homes. With the hustle and bustle of daily life we were taken aback by the tranquility of this country style home designed by UK based Staffan Tollgard Design Group. It seems we aren’t the only ones wishing to get away, musicians such as Andrew Fletcher from Depeche Mode, Noel Gallagher of Oasis, and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, have all owned homes in this beautiful county.

While a very traditional British facade on the outside, the inside is filled with wanderlust.

Strong Asian influences can be seen in both art and statues throughout the home.

The combination of blue and white jars and accessories, worldly wooden furniture, and traditional curtains and upholstery, create quite the living room area.

Mid Century Chinese Chinoiserie can be found throughout the home, and make a big impression in the master bedroom.

Talk about a desk with a view! Splashes of red, and the intricate details carved into this desk are spectacular.

This stately domed hallway offers a view of the idyllic  British countryside.

Print Mania: Interiors Edition

Prints are everywhere on the runway and  interior design, we simply can’t get enough of them. Here are six easy ways to incorporate  print into your own home, whether you want a subtle print or a statement print, it’s all here. Enjoy!

Opting for multiple prints? Choose one color and stick to it.

Have extra fabric? After upholstering your favorite chair for the 4th time, why not make some curtains as well!  Loving the printed pouf as well!

Striped walls is one of the classic ways of incorporating some visual interest, but add a zig zag rug and this room becomes an eye catching marvel.

If you are more of the eclectic type a beautiful symmetrical painting can be paired with a stronger animal print chair.

This watercolor wall is stunning.

Tribal prints add color and history to your space. They are a great gift to bring back from your travels as well.

Bold and Bright Art in Interior Design

Selecting art for every room in your house,or interior design projects, has become an art form in and of itself. One of the biggest trends we have been exposed to  is adding bold artwork that pushes the boundaries, and we love it! Gone is the traditional framing and canvas only art; the art in the following rooms is quite exciting and refreshing. Join us as we tour the following six rooms as well as some tips and tricks on how to add bold artwork to your home or designs.

With so much to look at in this room the symmetrical, wildly colorful, and abstract artwork is still the center of attention.

Bold artwork can also mean a striking continuous print in black and white, color isn’t always necessary to make a statement.

A giant mirror splattered strategically in paint is an example of a fun, new, and non traditional medium.

Framed prints are a cheap and easy way of updating your space, find them at your local flea markets, or even at your local Museum’s shop.

A wide array of frames and art creates an eclectic room that still continues to feel put together. Remember to select your arrangement before placing the nails.

Small artwork can be used as a stylish table top accessory as well. Choose colors that represent your color scheme, or mood. If you want to DIY but your aren’t artistically inclined, stick to simple shapes and lines.
